Summer returns to the High Uinta’s

With a wet and snowy spring, summer finally returns to the High country and we are able to begin packing for our 2010 season by packing in the Duchesne County Water conservation crew to begin work on the final stages of the High Lakes water stabilization project. This year’s projects should finally bring this project to its completion. There have been many agencies and organizations involved in this lengthy process and Flying J outfitters are proud to have been involved in this project.

Now is the time to put in for Big Game hunts and Utah bear hunts

The draw period is right now through March 8 for Utah's big game trophy applications as well as the period to apply for Bear hunting in Utah runs through February 25. If you want/need help, advice or suggestions

A Labor of Love on the Ashley National Forest

Flying J Outfitters is an important part of the High Lakes Dam Stabilization project in the Garfield Basin. This project seeks to restore lakes and wilderness areas. To see what role Flying J Outfitters played in this important project please read the entire article in the Uinta Basin Standard.

High Uinta Trails are now open.

I received a phone call today from the USFS and the trail closures in Lake Fork and Yellowstone drainages have been lifited. We look forward to seeing you at the trail head. If you don't have your own horses come on a horseback ride adventure with us.

First Backcountry Trip of the Season

We did our first backcountry trip of the season over the weekend to 5 Points Lake in the Yellowstone Drainage.  There is still plenty of snow in the higher elevations.  Lots of drifts most of which are over 4 feet high.  We even got about 3 inches of fresh snow on Saturday night.
