Utah OTC Open Bull Elk Hunts
We offer fully guided and drop camp elk hunts during Utah’s general season
open bull elk hunt in some of Utah’s most pristine wilderness back country,
the High Uinta Wilderness in northeastern Utah. Nothing beats the sound of a
bugling bull elk in the backcountry and when Utah’s general season elk
hunt opens on or before October 6, we like to head for the High Country in search
of these Utah elk. Guided elk hunts are 2 elk hunters per 1 guide and take place
in very rugged country at high elevation. Our base camp is around 10,200 feet
above sea level and we generally hunt elk uphill from there. You will want to
plan some time for acclimating to the elevation. During your time on your Utah
general elk hunt, you will probably see Mountain Goat,
Mule deer and
of course your share of Rocky mountain elk. Bugling bulls, chirping cows and
prancing calf elk. Days like these only come in the fall and only in Utah’s
backcountry. Well away from the ATV crowd and the road hunters. Back here any
elk hunters encountered will be “earning” their elk just like you.
Come join us on a Utah general season elk hunt. It is pretty much one of the
last over-the-counter a.k.a OTC hunts Utah still offers. If High elevation or
the hunt Utah elk hunting season begins after October 6th, we would recommend
our Utah spike
elk hunting.
Your Utah elk hunt will begin at the trailhead where we will pack your gear
on our sure footed mountain stock, and head into camp a.k.a your Rocky Mountain
Hilton which is about 2 hours in on horseback and located near a lake full of
brook and cutthroat trout so you will want to bring your fishing pole. Utah’s
nonresident elk hunting license includes a fishing license. Your Utah elk hunting
camp consists of wall tents, cots with pads, and a wood burning stove to take
the edge off those cold nights and mornings in elk camp. We provide hearty meals, hard
working guides, packing service for you and your elk to and from the trailhead,
and field dressing of your elk.
Utah elk hunts do not include personal gear, taxidermy, gratuities or caping
of your elk.
For the do-it-yourself or DIY elk hunter, might we suggest a Utah elk hunting
drop camp. Our drop
camp or DIY elk hunts include packing service to and from elk camp of you and
your elk that you have packed to camp. Includes tents, cots with pads, wood
burning stoves, cooking utensils, propane cooking and lighting appliances and
firewood. We can put you in a camp that we choose or you can choose the area
you wish to hunt for your Utah general elk.

propane or gratuities.
