Directions to Lake Fork and Swift Creek Trailheads
The best access to our trailheads is from Duchesne which is located just south of the Uintas. To get to Duchesne from Salt Lake drive east on I-80, then south/east on Hwy 40 to Duchesne. From Duchesne turn due north out of the center of town (there is a sign indication where to turn) following signs for either Lake Fork (Moon Lake) or Yellowstone Creek. Keep a close eye out for road junctions. You will be on paved road most of the way.
Swift Creek Trailhead
Approximately 5 miles after you leave the small town of Mountain Home, there will be a right turn onto a dirt road pointing to Yellowstone Creek or Swift Creek. This dirt road ends at the Swift Creek campground where the trailhead is located. It can be driven in a car but gets pretty rough in spots. Driving Time from SLC to the Swift Creek trailhead is about 3.5 hours.
Lake Fork Trailhead (Moon Lake)
After leaving the the small town of Mountain Home, follow the signs and stay on the pavement all the way to the Lake Fork Trailhead (Moon Lake). The road to the trailhead is paved until you turn off to the actual trailhead.
